FRONT DESK SPECIALIST I
JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides office support to include a variety of clerical activities and uses outstanding customer service skills to greet and assist patients.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Welcome patients and visitors to the office by greeting in person and on the telephone; answers inquiries or refers questions to the appropriate staff member
- Schedule appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time and most effective utilization of examining and treatment rooms
- Responsible for obtaining patient demographics and verifying insurance information at each visit
- Perform patient check in/out
- Collect all insurance copays, balances and uninsured payments at the time of service
- Maintain individual bank and prepare end of day report to management for balancing and sign off daily
- Process payment plan agreements
- Control all patient access beyond lobby
- Maintain waiting room and front desk area in neat and orderly condition
- Maintain knowledge of all health forms required for each visit and verification of storage in EMR
- Provide positive customer relations in dealing with patients, families, providers, members of the healthcare team, and others
- Regular & prompt attendance on agreed upon daily and weekly start and end time.
- Assist with clinical inboxes as needed
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Required - High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred - One year of customer service experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.
COVID/ FLU CONSIDERATIONS
If requested by any patient, then staff is required to wear a surgical mask. Patients are strongly encouraged to wear a mask if they are experiencing any acute respiratory symptoms or have a fever.
