Production Leadership on the Plant Floor

Location: Norcross, GA

Available Shift: 3rd Shift, 11:00 pm – 7:00 am, Sunday–Thursday

A day in this role

As the Frontline Manufacturing Supervisor, you begin the night with a walk-through of the floor—checking machine status, confirming labor assignments against the production schedule, and aligning with maintenance support on priorities. You lead a quick huddle to reinforce safety expectations, review quality targets, and clarify work orders. Throughout the shift, you coach operators, spot-check product to specifications, resolve equipment issues side-by-side with your team, and document progress. By morning, you’ve finalized all paperwork, handed off critical updates to the incoming supervisor, and ensured the team leaves the floor safe, clean, and set up for success.

What you’ll own

  • Direct, hands-on supervision, training, development, and support of production and material handling employees; guidance and indirect oversight of maintenance support staff
  • Relentless safety leadership: ensure safe work practices, audit for compliance, address hazards quickly, and deliver safety and job-function training
  • Real-time troubleshooting of process, material, and equipment issues in collaboration with operators and support personnel; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Interpret and communicate work orders and specifications; verify that product and documentation align with requirements
  • Deploy labor and resources against the production schedule to meet throughput, quality, and cost objectives
  • Monitor quality, confirm specifications, and enforce quality procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Continuously improve: recommend actions to enhance safety, production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and waste reduction
  • Elevate performance: train, coach, evaluate, and motivate employees to achieve goals; clarify company policies, rules, and procedures
  • Own the paperwork: double-check and finalize production reports, work orders, safety and sanitation records, quality documents, and finished goods tickets
  • Workforce administration: maintain time clock records and submit to Plant HR; coordinate staffing needs with HR
  • Communicate consistently across shifts with leaders, peers, and team members; step in to perform frontline tasks when needed
  • Apply Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement principles on the floor

Meeting customer expectations

  • Follow established plant rules and procedures tied to customer service—especially adherence to run-order specifications for every product
  • Uphold all GMP standards and comply fully with food safety requirements
  • Engage in value-added activities that enhance product quality and process reliability

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S. in Industrial Management) preferred, not required
  • 5+ years of successful production supervision, ideally in manufacturing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn new systems quickly
  • Independent, resourceful problem solver with a track record of fast, durable resolutions
  • Strong collaborator who builds trust with hourly teams, peers, and leadership
  • Clear, confident communicator—verbal and written; comfortable speaking to groups of employees, customers, and suppliers
