Position Summary
The Frozen Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the frozen foods department, ensuring product availability, inventory accuracy, merchandising excellence, and outstanding customer service. This position provides leadership to department associates, maintains product quality and food safety standards, and supports the achievement of sales and profitability goals while maintaining a clean, organized, and customer-focused department.
Key Responsibilities Department Operations
- Supervise daily frozen department activities and ensure efficient execution of department responsibilities.
- Maintain department standards for cleanliness, organization, and product presentation.
- Ensure frozen food cases and displays remain fully stocked and customer-ready.
- Monitor department performance and support store sales and operational goals.
- Assist with implementing company programs, promotions, and merchandising initiatives.
- Ensure proper execution of opening, closing, stocking, and replenishment procedures.
Merchandising & Sales
- Maintain attractive and organized frozen food displays to maximize sales opportunities.
- Ensure proper product rotation according to freshness and date code standards.
- Verify accurate pricing, signage, and promotional displays throughout the department.
- Maintain strong in-stock conditions and minimize out-of-stock occurrences.
- Support seasonal, promotional, and holiday merchandising programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve sales through effective product placement and presentation.
Inventory Management
- Assist with ordering and inventory control to meet customer demand.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment activities.
- Verify delivery accuracy and proper storage of frozen products.
- Control shrink through effective forecasting, product rotation, and inventory practices.
- Maintain organized freezers, storage areas, and backroom inventory.
- Support inventory counts, audits, and recordkeeping activities.
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide leadership, coaching, and daily direction to frozen department associates.
- Train associates on stocking procedures, food safety standards, and customer service expectations.
- Assign daily tasks and monitor department productivity and performance.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
- Support associate development and operational excellence.
- Serve as department leader in the absence of the Frozen Manager when applicable.
Customer Service
- Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture.
- Assist customers with product inquiries, locations, and recommendations.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Ensure associates provide friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient service.
- Maintain a positive shopping experience through department readiness and product availability.
Food Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Monitor freezer temperatures and product storage conditions.
- Ensure proper handling and rotation of frozen products.
- Follow company policies, operational procedures, and safety standards.
- Conduct routine inspections to maintain department compliance.
- Report and address food safety and workplace safety concerns immediately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous grocery, frozen foods, retail, warehouse, or food service experience preferred.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory management, merchandising, and food safety practices.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to push, pull, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions.
- Ability to work for extended periods in freezer and cold-storage environments.
- Ability to safely operate stocking and material-handling equipment.
