Job Details

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Supervise, mentor, train, and develop a team of 8-10 QA Technicians.
  • Lead all food safety and quality assurance programs throughout the facility.
  • Maintain and improve HACCP, SSOP, Pre-Operational, and prerequisite programs.
  • Ensure compliance with GFSI Level 2 standards and QA procedures.
  • Develop and implement food safety policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Review HACCP, SSOP, and inspection documentation daily.
  • Oversee microbiological and laboratory testing including Salmonella, Campylobacter, E. coli, Avian Influenza, pesticide residue, water testing, nutritional verification, and organic testing.
  • Manage laboratory inventory and purchasing.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with USDA inspectors.
  • Investigate customer complaints and quality issues while implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare the facility for GFSI, Organic, Animal Welfare, ABF, Co-Packer, and third-party audits.
  • Hire, coach, evaluate, and discipline QA personnel.
  • Schedule QA staff while controlling overtime costs.
  • Ensure GMP, HACCP, food safety, and company policy compliance.
  • Serve as backup to the QA Manager when needed.

Qualifications Needed:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Poultry Science, Animal Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 1-2 years of poultry quality assurance supervisory experience.
  • HACCP Certification from an accredited organization.
  • GFSI Certification from an accredited organization.
  • Strong experience managing food safety systems in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing environment.
  • Experience administering HACCP, SSOP, GMP, prerequisite programs, and food safety documentation.
  • Experience preparing facilities for third-party food safety audits.
  • Strong understanding of USDA regulations and inspection requirements.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and developing QA personnel.
  • Proven ability to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience managing laboratory testing programs and quality documentation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
