Job Summary

The Academic Advisor & Seminary Readiness Guide is responsible for providing academic advising and other related services to current students with the intent of helping them make informed decisions as they progress toward graduation.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Advise students in all master's degrees primarily studying in the western portion of DFW and the primary advisor for various DTS partnerships.

  • Attend the weekly Dallas Academic Advising team meetings (in-person or virtually) and Distance Education team meetings.

  • Assist with the Fort Worth site activities (Preview Day, New Student Welcome, On-Campus Class Weekends, etc.).

  • Assist with Distance Education events or trips (2-3 per fall-spring semesters) as available and approved by supervisor.

  • Organize and consolidate the various partnership agreements while maintaining accurate records (list of students, audits, etc.) in the Student Information System (SIS).

  • Run degree audits for current and graduating students.

  • Meet with current students to develop a degree completion plan specific to that student.

  • Process degree-specific paperwork for students.

  • Develop resources or conduct seminars that foster current student persistence and success.

  • Assist with grading assignments and other activities in the Seminary Readiness course.

  • Other duties pertaining to student success and retention as assigned by the Assistant Director of Advising or Director of Academic Advising.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with a variety of age groups.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrates godly character and discretion with sensitive student information.

  • Be flexible and willing to have their work interrupted.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Current DTS student or DTS graduate.

  • Previous Admissions or Advising experience is preferred but not required.
