Job Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Director for Media is responsible for managing the athletics department's public communications, media relations, and digital storytelling. The Assistant Athletic Director for Media also ensures the effective execution of game day events.
Essential Job Functions:
- Athletic Communications & Media Relations
- Serve as the primary sports information contact for the department, managing all public facing communications for intercollegiate athletics
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to promote all sports programs
- Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to secure coverage of athletes, coaches, and events
- Promote athletic achievements, milestones, awards, and special events through press releases, media kits, and event coverage
- Digital Media & Social Media
- Oversee the athletics website, ensuring schedules, rosters, bios, results, and news are accurate and up to date
- Manage and create engaging content for official athletics social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X)
- Produce graphics, photos, videos, and multimedia to support promotional campaigns
- Maintain brand consistency across all digital platforms
- Game Day & Event Coverage
- Coordinate live streaming, photography, and broadcast support for home and away events
- Assist with preseason media days, action shots, and team videography
- Provide on-site communications during games and events to ensure accurate, timely reporting
- Publications & Content Creation
- Develop and distribute print and digital publications such as fact books, game notes, and press releases
- Compile and report statistics to conferences and governing bodies
- Administrative & Policy Support
- Help develop and administer departmental policies and office functions
- Assist in fundraising and community outreach activities related to athletics
- Valid driver's license with the ability to be approved to operate university-issued vehicles
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required

Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in communications or related field
- Valid driver's license with the ability to be approved to operate university-issued vehicles
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel as required
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required upon hire.
