FT Broadfield Social Studies Teacher (Work from Home)

The Wisconsin Virtual Academies (WVA) are three public charter schools authorized by the McFarland School District and powered by Stride K12, Inc. (Wisconsin Virtual Academy, Insight School of Wisconsin, and Destinations Career Academy). We are seeking a dynamic, motivated, and organized candidate for a full-time High School Social Studies Teacher position at Destinations Career Academy. Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin (DCA) is an innovative, tuition-free online school for grades 9-12 that combines core academics with industry-relevant, career-focused electives-giving students a jump-start on their college and career goals. While working toward their high school diplomas, students can choose from a variety of courses in high-demand career fields. Students can participate in career-oriented clubs, gain workplace skills, and prepare to take industry-recognized certification exams in their chosen career path upon graduation.

Position Overview:

Destinations Career Academy of Wisconsin is seeking a full-time, certified Broadfield Social Studies Teacher. Well-qualified candidates will hold a current license in this area or be willing to pursue licensure(s) that will enhance the classroom experiences for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teaching duties including, but not limited to supervision of students, grading, lesson planning and implementation
• General management of the virtual classroom
• Committee participation and student support
• Homeroom content delivery and student support of HR students

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

• Bachelor's degree
• Broadfield Social Studies certification to include Grades 6-12, or to pursue Broadfield Social Studies license

Desired Qualifications (pre-certified and/or willingness/ability to pursue):

• Master's degree in Social Studies related field
• Hold multiple licenses across one or more disciplines (ie. English, Science, etc.)
• Experience working in a virtual environment.
• Knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and tools
• Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
• Experience teaching interventions and differentiation strategies, data-driven instruction
• Ability to effectively communicate in multiple modes
• Responsive to requests phone calls, and emails from students, staff, and parents.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, organized, ability to coordinate varied tasks successfully.
• Ability to travel as needed, around 10% of the time within and between assigned geographic areas to support students, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and participate in school activities.
