POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT : FULL -TIME FACULTY MEMBER - CHEMISTRY The Department of Mathematics and Physical Sciences at Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan, invites applications for a full-time ( 9 month) faculty position , begin ning January 2027. MADONNA UNIVERSITY is a Franciscan, Catholic co -educational liberal arts university located in Livonia, Michigan , a western suburb of the metropolitan Detroit area. The growing student body of over 2,000 students is an exciting and diverse mix of traditional and non -traditional commuter students representing all ages and ethnicities of Southeastern Michigan. THE DEPARTMENT OF MATHEM ATICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES provides foundatio nal science instruction in chemistry, earth and space sciences, environmental science, mathematics, natural science, and physics for several majors across the University . We have five full-time faculty members who are supported by qualified and committed adjuncts . Our programs are distinctive and our faculty are committed to student success. Housed in the College of Arts and Sciences , the Department enjoys collaborative relationships with colleagues throughout the University. Modern labs are located in a n award -winning green building. RESPONSIBILITIES include a primary focus on teaching , including lecture and laboratory courses such as Life Chemistry , Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry , engaging in student -centered research projects; coordinating curriculum review , student recruitment and advising; conduct ing regular inventory of chemicals for laboratory instruction, procur ing chemistry lab equipmen t and lab supplies within the program's budget , supervising chemistry student lab assistants, assisting with science lab safety for students and faculty , coordinating disposal of chemical waste and hazards, assisting in the implementation of review sessions for chemistry education majors and minors; conducting program assessment and evaluation ; serving as the faculty mentor for the newly created Chemistry club, and active ly participati ng in University govern ance and academic life . QUALIFICATIONS include an earned Ph.D. in Chemistry from an accredited school; evidence of successful teaching at the University level; evidence of scientific publications, a commitment to working collab oratively within the Madonna University community ; and strong interpersonal communication skill s.
