Job Description

Full-Time Licensed Mental Health Practitioner

(LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Licensed Psychologist, or Psychiatrist) Chico and Anderson (can be remote)

Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Chief of Programs and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Licensed Mental Health Practitioner provides comprehensive clinical services to clients receiving treatment in Compassion Pathway Behavioral Health's residential behavioral health programs, including Social Rehabilitation Facilities (SRF) and Crisis Residential Treatment (CRT) programs.

The Licensed Mental Health Practitioner is responsible for conducting clinical assessments, developing and monitoring individualized treatment plans, providing individual and group therapy, participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and promoting positive clinical outcomes that support each client's recovery and successful transition into the community.

The clinician serves as a clinical leader and collaborates closely with facility leadership, nursing staff, case managers, rehabilitation staff, and outside providers to ensure high-quality, person-centered care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Services

Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial and mental health assessments.

  • Develop, implement, and periodically update individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments, client goals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop treatment interventions and provide clinical guidance to facility staff to support clients in achieving treatment goals
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy utilizing evidence-based treatment practices.
  • Provide crisis assessment, intervention, stabilization, and de-escalation as needed
  • Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans based on changes in clinical presentation.
  • Prepare treatment updates, monthly progress reports, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and rehabilitation staff.Coordinate with outside providers, county representatives, conservators, hospitals, and community resources to promote continuity of care.
  • Assist with discharge planning and transition services to ensure successful community reintegration.
  • Counsel family members and significant others to improve understanding of clients' mental health conditions and recovery process.

Clinical Leadership

  • Serve as a clinical resource for facility staff regarding behavioral health interventions and treatment planning.
  • Assist the Program Director and Administrator in maintaining compliance with Community Care Licensing (CCL), Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), Medi-Cal, and other applicable regulations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, utilization reviews, and program development activities.
  • Assist with staff education, clinical consultation, and in-service training related to behavioral health treatment, trauma-informed care, documentation standards, and evidence-based practices.
  • Promote best practices and continuous improvement in clinical service delivery.

Clinical Supervision

  • May provide clinical supervision to Associate Clinical Social Workers (ACSWs), Associate Marriage and Family Therapists (AMFTs), Associate Professional Clinical Counselors (APCCs), interns, trainees, or other registered associates in accordance with applicable California licensing board requirements and organizational policies.
  • Review clinical documentation, provide case consultation, mentor developing clinicians, and verify supervised clinical hours when authorized by the organization and licensing regulations.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Ensure all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge documentation, and other clinical records comply with DHCS, CCL, HIPAA, and organizational requirements.
  • Maintain client confidentiality and uphold all ethical and professional standards.

Report incidents, abuse, neglect, or other mandated reporting events in accordance with applicable laws and company policies.

  • Stay informed regarding advances in behavioral health treatment, evidence-based practices, and applicable regulations.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.

Additional Responsibilities

  • May serve as Program Director when qualified and designated by the organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support quality client care and facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted California license as one of the following:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
  • Licensed Psychologist
  • Psychiatrist (MD or DO)
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, crisis services, or a related mental health setting preferred.
  • Experience working with adults experiencing serious mental illness preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented treatment, crisis intervention, and evidence-based practices.
  • Knowledge of DHCS, Community Care Licensing (Title 22), Medi-Cal, and HIPAA regulations preferred.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgment while managing multiple priorities.

Working Hours

Full-time, benefit-eligible position. Work schedule will be determined based on the operational and client care needs of the facility and may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and participation in an on-call rotation as necessary.
