The Design Release Engineer is responsible for the design, development, advance product & quality planning (APQP), and production release of a system/component within Fuels Systems: Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules.
Other responsibilities include quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
The Design Release Engineer interacts with suppliers and works closely with internal and external groups such as vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
Requirements:
2 5 years of relevant engineering experience (preferred range discussed was 2 3+ years)
Strong communication skills and ability to work with suppliers, manufacturing, validation labs, program teams, and quality organizations
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
Preferred:
Direct fuel tank design/release experience
Fuel delivery module (FDM) experience
Injection molding and/or blow molding experience
DFMEA experience
Design for Six Sigma certification or training
GD&T knowledge
NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM/CAD system experience
Virtual simulation experience
Fastener and torque application knowledge
OEM automotive fuel systems experience
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent)
