Job Title: Pharmacy Floor Technician (PM - 2nd Shift)

Job Description

This role supports a high-volume pharmacy environment by accurately preparing prescription orders during evening and late-night hours. The Pharmacy Floor Technician works under the supervision of a pharmacist to pick, label, scan, and prepare finished prescriptions for final verification, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and departmental procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Pick, label, scan, and otherwise prepare finished prescriptions for final verification by a pharmacist.
  • Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures.
  • Prepack frequently ordered medications, label them correctly, and store them as needed during low-volume times.
  • Package materials and products manually in accordance with pharmacy standards and protocols.
  • Pull and pick medications from shelving units, medication storage areas, and prepack racks as directed.
  • Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to ensure accuracy and proper documentation.
  • Alert the pharmacist on duty when any medication or product does not scan properly or appears inconsistent.
  • Maintain designated workstation areas in a clean and organized manner and replenish all stock supplies as needed.
  • Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient privacy and maintain compliance.
  • Comply with departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code at all times.
  • Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to support pharmacy operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of pharmacy workflow and patient care.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Active and clear Illinois Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Illinois Board of Pharmacy, maintained in good standing.
  • Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification through PTCB or NHA.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician.
  • Ability to work at a moderate speed while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Proficiency in data entry to support accurate medication processing and documentation.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA.
  • Capability to work evening and late-night hours, including every other weekend.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous pharmacy technician experience in any setting is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a closed-door or long-term care specialty pharmacy environment is preferred but not required.
  • National certification and active state licensure beyond the minimum validity period are highly valued.
  • Comfort working with blister card packaging and medication scanning systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

  • This position is scheduled primarily for the PM 2nd shift,

  • M-F 6:30 p.m.- 2:00 a.m. and every other weekend 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Pay: $20-23/hr.

  • A shift differential of 10% is added to base pay for covering evening and late-night hours.

  • Fully Onsite - Near the LaGrange IL area

  • The role is based in a closed-door or long-term care specialty pharmacy environment that relies on data entry systems, medication scanning technology, blister card labeling, and organized shelving and storage racks. Team members may sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day and may sit or stand seven to ten hours per shift, with extended hours as needed. The position requires finger dexterity to operate office and pharmacy equipment, the ability to lift up to 25 pounds on occasion, and sufficient visual acuity for reading fine print, close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment. Normal hearing is required to communicate effectively with colleagues and pharmacists. The work environment emphasizes safety, adherence to attendance expectations, and compliance with a defined dress code, while supporting a structured, process-driven pharmacy operation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of La Grange, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
