Fulfillment Planner — Job Description

Purpose of the Role
The Fulfillment Planner is responsible for coordinating inventory movement across the distribution network to meet customer demand efficiently. This role executes deployment strategies, identifies and implements distribution optimization opportunities, and ensures optimal truckload utilization.

The planner also supports monthly distribution center (DC) planning by assessing transportation lane requirements and warehouse capacity needs.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Develop and execute deployment strategies based on current demand and production plans at the SKU-location level
  • Create, modify, and process purchase orders in SAP and manage Stock Transfer Orders using Blue Yonder
  • Monitor and manage warehouse capacity, including a 14-day forward outlook to prevent congestion or gridlock
  • Prioritize inbound shipments when warehouse or transportation constraints arise
  • Monitor and manage inventory shortage risks and take corrective actions to minimize customer impact
  • Communicate potential customer shortages to Customer Service teams as needed
  • Escalate significant inventory risks to Supply Planning and Sales Channel Service Managers
  • Track inventory performance, including overstock and understock against safety stock targets
  • Maintain and update weekly dashboard reason codes related to inventory cuts or adjustments
  • Optimize freight utilization for stock transfer orders to maximize transportation efficiency
  • Manage inter-DC inventory transfers through the C-item deployment process
  • Analyze inventory trends and develop corrective action plans to reduce unplanned shortages
  • Identify opportunities to reduce spoilage and improve inventory health
  • Improve customer order fill rates through actionable planning initiatives
  • Ensure SAP data accuracy by updating past-due orders and resolving mismatch reports

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in logistics planning (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing, distribution, and customer service operations
  • APICS certification or progress toward certification preferred
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills, including advanced spreadsheet proficiency
  • Ability to perform basic financial analysis related to supply chain operations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Power BI (advanced Excel skills strongly preferred)
  • Experience with SAP (ECC or S/4HANA) and/or Blue Yonder systems preferred

Additional Details

  • This is a temporary contract role (6–8 months) supporting the Galileo initiative

Full-time position with hybrid schedule:

Monday & Friday: Remote

Tuesday–Thursday: On-site

Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Candidates with SAP (ECC or S/4HANA) and/or Blue Yonder experience are strongly preferred
