Job Description
Kforce has a client in Maryland Heights, MO seeking a Full Stack Developer (Python/React) to help produce and expand a custom enterprise application that enables users to gather, transform, and manage data through a modern ETL platform.
Summary:
This is a backend-focused development role with an emphasis on building production-grade Python applications and APIs in AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience taking applications from development through production, integrating frontend and backend components, implementing CI/CD practices, and building cloud infrastructure using Terraform. While this is primarily a backend role, candidates should have enough frontend knowledge to work effectively within a full-stack environment, troubleshoot across the application, and support React-based components when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support backend application functionality using Python and FastAPI
- Build and maintain APIs that enable communication between frontend and backend application components
- Integrate application APIs with internal LLM services and understand how to consume LLM capabilities within an application
- Help transition an existing proof of concept into a scalable, production-ready application
- Develop and deploy applications within an AWS environment
- Build and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform
- Work with PostgreSQL for backend data storage and application functionality
- Support containerized application deployments using Kubernetes
- Implement and follow established CI/CD and SDLC best practices
- Collaborate across frontend, backend, infrastructure, and testing functions to ensure successful application delivery
Requirements:
- Strong Python software development experience with significant backend application development
- Hands-on Python API development experience
- Experience developing APIs using FastAPI
- Demonstrated experience building and productionizing applications in AWS, including taking an application through development, deployment, and production
- Experience integrating frontend and backend applications/APIs
- Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
- AWS cloud development experience, including exposure to services and concepts such as VPCs and AWS Secrets Manager
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized application environments
- Experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience implementing or working within CI/CD pipelines
- Experience with Git-based source control
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum sprint environments
- Experience consuming or integrating with LLMs through APIs, or the ability to work with internal LLM services as part of an application
- Proven experience supporting real-world, production applications rather than primarily prototype or proof-of-concept development
- Working knowledge of frontend development, preferably ReactJS, with the ability to understand and troubleshoot frontend components
- Solid understanding of SDLC, testing, code quality, and production software engineering best practices
- Stronger hands-on experience with ReactJS and full-stack application development
- Experience with AWS Lambda
- Experience with Helm and YAML
- Experience developing ETL, data transformation, or data-processing applications
- Experience using AI-assisted software development tools as part of the development lifecycle
- Experience contributing to application testing and QA activities in addition to core software development
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
