Full-Stack Software Engineer
Summary
Our client is modernizing a large-scale insurance regulatory platform, incrementally rewriting a legacy JEE/JSF monolith into Angular and Spring Boot on AWS. This is a full-stack role that involves writing Angular daily while carrying strong back-end depth with AI-assisted development embedded throughout.
Responsibilities
- Convert legacy JSF/PrimeFaces pages into Angular single-page applications, using AI-assisted analysis to accelerate the rewrite.
- Re-platform back-end functionality from JBoss-hosted Java apps to Spring Boot services.
- Remediate security and code-quality findings surfaced through enterprise governance tools.
- Deliver features, defect fixes, and tests as part of an existing Scrum team, leveraging AI coding tools across the SDLC.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development.
- Current daily use of Angular (modern version) with TypeScript (this is a non-negotiable requirement).
- Strong full-stack/back-end capability using Java, JEE, and Spring Boot.
- Working-level skills with Oracle SQL.
- Experience in REST API development, Git, and automated build/deploy pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with AI coding tools.
- KC-local candidate with the ability and willingness to come on-site as needed.
Preferred
- JSF/PrimeFaces experience and prior legacy-to-modern rewrite work.
- Experience with Security scanning/vulnerability remediation (Nexus IQ, SonarQube).
- Experience with AWS, Kafka, Okta, Snowflake, or Angular Material.
- Insurance or regulated-industry background.
This is a 12-Month Contract opportunity with our Kansas City, MO, client with likely conversion to full-time in the second half of 2027. Work is KC-based, mostly remote (on-site as needed, a couple of times a month) for PI planning and team events.
