Cosmetology Instructor (Full-time, Tenure Track)
Highland Community College, located in the scenic northwest corner of Illinois, is seeking a Cosmetology Instructor for a full-time, tenure-track position for the Fall 2026 semester This position will deliver high-quality instruction in cosmetology courses and support student development in both classroom and practical settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of cosmetology courses offered by the college
- Provide classroom and hands-on instruction to students
- Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback
- Maintain a safe and effective learning environment
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to support program success
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid Illinois Cosmetology License
- Cosmetology Instructors License
- Ability and willingness to teach the full cosmetology curriculum
Preferred:
- Prior teaching experience
- 2+ years of professional salon experience
- Professional experience or instructional background in Nail Technology strongly preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and instructional skills
- Ability to engage and motivate students
- Organization and time management skills
- Knowledge of current cosmetology practices and standards
Work Environment / Schedule
- Work schedule: Up to 40 hours per week
- Hours: Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Work hours may vary based on scheduling needs
