JOB DESCRIPTION: Full-Time Custodian

Summary/Objective
The position of Full-Time Custodian is established to perform cleaning and sanitation of all public and non-public areas within the Spring Grove Funeral Home.

Essential Functions

Effective and positive communication both verbal and written
Interface with internal and external customers in-person
Ability to lift, stand, climb stairs and squat
Ability to handle chemicals for cleaning multiple areas
Keep building and property in a clean and orderly condition
Ability to occasionally work outdoors

Additional Duties but not limited to:

Custodian – Spring Grove Funeral Home

The custodian performs a variety of tasks, including:
- Gathers and empties trash, inside and outside the building
- Performs heavy cleaning duties
- Cleans, polishes and dusts furniture, blinds, walls, equipment, fixtures, desks and other items
- Scrubbs, sanitizes and supplies restroom facilities including sinks, floors and commodes
- Cleans windows, mirrors and partitions
- Sweeps, mops, scrubs and vacuums floors (carpet, tile, LVT, wood, concrete) in all areas including entry ways, corridors, stairways, elevators
Is responsible for the safe and proper mixing and use of cleaning solutions and adheres to all safety precautions
Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
Replenishes supplies and materials in assigned areas and rooms
Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair as well as report any problems
Follows all safety and sanitation regulations
Properly cleans and maintains custodian equipment
Reports and notifies manager(s) regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems
Other duties as assigned

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard cleaning supplies.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; squat; and reach with hands and arms. Required to lift up to 40 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time non-exempt position. Business days and hours of work are:

1st week - Monday - Friday: 8:30 am – 5 pm

2nd week - Tuesday- Saturday 8:30am - 5pm

Travel
Local travel may be required for support within a 25-mile radius.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience

1. Minimum one-year office cleaning preferred.

2. Great Customer Service Skills, must display a calm attitude.

3. Needs listening skills, able to take direction. Able to work with people. Team Player.

4. Displays a “Customer First” attitude.

5. Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures

6. Ability to stand, walk or bend for many hours and ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time

7. Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures

8. Experience with using cleaning equipment, including vacuum cleaners, floor buffers and cleaning solutions

9. Reliable transportation required

10. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules
