Full Time Head Night Custodian (East Troy High School)

The East Troy Community School District is looking for a full time, Head Night Custodian to serve the East Troy High School. The goal of this position is to help maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of excellence, cleanliness, and safety as to promote a positive educational environment and ensure that public use can be made of facilities at all times.

NECESSARY SKILLS

• Previous custodial experience with supervisory experience desired.
• Knowledge of computers, energy management systems, pneumatic, and/or DDC HVAC controls, basic mechanics of boilers, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry desired.
• Interact effectively, and communicate with all district staff, public and students in a positive manner.
• Perform repetitive or short-cycle work.
• Assist in the long range planning for the facility.
• Operate automatic scrubber, and other custodial equipment needed to perform the essential job functions.
• Use basic hand tools, some power tools and custodial equipment.
• Supervise a diverse group of custodians.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees work with a high level of independence and professional discretion under the general supervision of administration. The employee's work is governed, controlled, and evaluated by acceptable professional practice, school and district policies and regulations, provisions of Wisconsin Administrative Code, direction of the supervisor, and performance standards and expectations. Professional judgment is used to ensure appropriate communication and interpretation.

• The employee must lift and/or move 25 to 50 pounds on a regular basis, as well as heavier weights as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide Leadership and Organization Skills necessary to facilitate the cleaning and maintenance of all essential building systems.
• Ability to perform all routine custodial cleaning duties to include but not limited to sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, disinfection of surfaces and vacuuming of floors.
• Complete cleaning of cafeteria and kitchen.
• Clear snow and de-ice sidewalks as needed to maintain them in a safe condition.
• Set up, rearrange, and tear down furniture and bleachers for all district and public events and lunch.
• Schedule and help perform annual cleaning and painting of all district rooms.
• Ability to use a computer and programs such as but not limited to Word, Excel, E-Mail and appropriate building energy automation system.
• Supervise building custodial staff.
• Order supplies, equipment and maintain inventory from in-house supply.
• Perform routine maintenance of steam traps, plumbing, electrical, HVAC systems.
• Operate facilities HVAC systems and energy management systems where applicable.
• Assume duties of cleaner in times of absence.
• Maintain basic records of daily events and communicate events to other staff.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and adjust as building, weather and other events or instructions require.
• Maintain accurate records of cleaning routes and schedules to maintain cleaning effectiveness.
• Attend classes, seminars, webinars as needed to stay proficient in building operations.
