Position: Full-Time High School Counselor
Required Qualications: Valid Indiana License in School Counseling
Preferred Qualications: Master's degree in social work, school counseling, or related counseling eld Preferred Experience: Strong working knowledge of PowerSchool/PowerScheduler and experience working with CTE programs and College Board.
Primary Responsibilities:
Assists students in evaluating students aptitudes and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data.
Assists students in making course and subject selections, as well as with evaluating career interests and choices.
Assists in the scheduling of classes.
Assists students with admissions, scholarships, and identifying employment/career opportunities.
Coordinates with administrators and other staff to ascertain individual students abilities and needs, including students with special needs, and to familiarize stakeholders with guidance services.
Researches educational and career opportunities, and coordinates with teachers, college and university personnel, resource specialists, and business and community organizations for the purpose of providing information, making recommendations, and developing partnerships.
Assists with the registration, enrollment, and orientation of students who are new to the school regarding policies, procedures, resources, and educational opportunities.
Assists with the school districts attendance and dropout prevention efforts.
Serves as a ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
Works alongside CTE Directors and Work-Based Learning Staff to plan and coordinate programs, opportunities, and eld trips to institutions of higher learning, businesses, and other organizations.
Continues to acquire professional knowledge in the educational eld through professional development, and by maintaining professional relationships with members of institutions of higher learning and the CTE/business community.
Organizes and maintains accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
Encourages parental involvement in students education and ensures effective communication with students, parents, and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance, and behavior.
Assists in the orientation of new teachers and provides in-service training in guidance.
Plan and present engaging, standards-aligned counseling lessons and laws.
Maintain and support a safe, thriving, and respectful Student Services environment consistent with established codes of conduct, condentiality, and both social and academic support that is conducive to positive learning.
Support school-wide initiatives and improvement goals and uphold all district policies,
procedures, and state requirements.
Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Salary: Based upon experience and qualications
Contract: 190 Days
