At Perimeter Behavioral Hospital of Arlington, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care in a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our team.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Environment of Care, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the hospital's physical environment through a variety of skilled tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, equipment inspections, preventive maintenance, and general facility upkeep.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repair work involving painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC equipment, and preventive maintenance.
  • Conduct facility inspections and complete routine testing of equipment and building systems.
  • Clean and replace air filters in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
  • Dispose of infectious and contaminated waste following established safety guidelines.
  • Maintain facility grounds in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
  • Repair and maintain lighting systems, including replacing bulbs and fixtures as needed.
  • Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment under supervisory guidance.
  • Perform janitorial duties when needed to support facility operations.
  • Follow proper lockout/tagout procedures when servicing equipment.
  • Adhere to infection control standards, OSHA regulations, safety policies, and risk management procedures.
  • Support a safe, therapeutic, and risk-free environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Manage time effectively and complete assigned tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
  • Maintain compliance with all facility, departmental, corporate, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through dependable attendance, punctuality, and appropriate workplace conduct.
  • Support facility-wide quality improvement and performance enhancement initiatives.

Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two (2) years of technical or trade school training preferred.

Experience

  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment required.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety procedures and maintenance practices.
  • Previous maintenance experience in a hospital or healthcare environment strongly preferred.

Licensure

  • No licensure required.

Additional Requirements

  • Must successfully complete BLS (Basic Life Support) and Handle with Care training within two weeks of employment.
  • Must be available to attend a full week of hospital orientation upon hire.
  • Must participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

Schedule

  • Full-Time
  • 8-hour shifts
  • Rotating on-call schedule

Salary

  • $20 - $25 per hour.
