Job Responsibilities- Perform a wide variety of laboratory tests across multiple departments including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, and urinalysis
- Analyze and interpret laboratory test results to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
- Follow established laboratory protocols, safety standards, and quality control procedures
- Verify specimen integrity and ensure proper specimen handling and processing
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient diagnosis and treatment
- Maintain accurate laboratory documentation and records in accordance with regulatory standards
- Troubleshoot testing issues and assist with quality improvement initiatives
- Participate in laboratory proficiency testing and compliance requirements
- Provide excellent attention to detail while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced clinical environment
Education Requirements- Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related laboratory science field from an accredited program
Certification Requirements- Current or eligible certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent certification body
- Certification as MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or CLS
Preferred Experience- Previous experience working as a laboratory generalist in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting
- Strong knowledge of hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank procedures
- Experience operating automated laboratory analyzers and diagnostic equipment
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
