Charlotte's Best Nanny Agency is assisting a family in the Cotswold neighborhood of Charlotte in finding a Full-Time Nanny for their two daughters, ages 3 and 5 years old.
Schedule
This is a full-time role with a guaranteed minimum of 40 paid hours per week to start, regardless of the school calendar or family travel. Any hours worked over the 40 guaranteed in a workweek are compensated at time and a half. From June 2027 the weekly guarantee rises to 50 hours. The weekly pattern varies with the school year as set out below.
Period
Hours
December 29, 2026 – January 2, 2027
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm (school holiday)
January – mid-June 2027, term time
Monday – Friday, 11:00 am – 6:30 pm, 40 guaranteed hours
Any school holiday, teacher workday, or day a child is home sick (January – June)
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
Summer 2027 onward
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm, 50 guaranteed hours
The weeks the children are in school, the scheduled hours would be 37.5 hours a week, with 40 hours a week of pay guaranteed.
On School days, the nanny arrives before the school pickups and uses the late-morning hours for the children's side of the household, their laundry and clothing, keeping their rooms and gear organized, seasonal clothing sorts, prepping their food for the day, camp and activity research and registration, school paperwork, and booking and tracking appointments. The volume of this work varies week to week; some weeks are heavier than others.
Occasional evening babysitting, typically once or twice a month, worked within the same week where the schedule allows, with a few days' notice wherever possible.
The nanny should be flexible to come in earlier or stay later as needed, occasional 7:00 am starts or 8:00 pm finishes. Hours beyond 40 in a workweek are paid at the overtime rate, and the family will give notice by the previous evening wherever possible. Summer 2027 onwards, hours beyond 50 hours in a workweek are paid at the overtime rate.
Travel
Two distinct requirements, both essential:
Sole charge at the family home. The parents travel for work and personally, typically for up to a week at a time, several times a year. The nanny would stay at the home overnight and manage the household and children independently for the duration. This is a core requirement of the role, not an occasional extra.
Travelling with the family, including internationally and transatlantically. A passport is preferred; the nanny would have the opportunity to obtain one before any international travel. On family trips, the nanny has their own room, defined on-duty hours with genuine off-duty time each day, and a day off on any trip longer than a week. The family covers flights, accommodation, meals, and any visa costs.
Overnight and travel work is paid separately from base hours, and all travel expenses are covered.
The role
The best nanny for this family is responsible, present, and passionate about providing quality childcare. Both girls will be in school: one at pre-school, 9:00 am – 12:45/1:00 pm, and one at a separate elementary school, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Each day, the nanny collects the girls from their two schools, brings them home and to activities as needed, provides a snack, and cares for them through the afternoon and evening. On school holidays and over the summer, the nanny cares for the children the full day.
The family is hoping to welcome a baby in summer 2027, so a nanny with genuine newborn and infant experience who can grow with the family over many years is the right fit. For the first 12 weeks after the birth, a dedicated baby nurse will handle newborn care while the nanny remains primary for the older two, protecting their routine through the transition. There will be a one-to-two week overlap for handover before the baby moves into the nanny's care.
From autumn 2027, with both older girls at school 9:00 am – 3:00 pm and a baby at home, the nanny's day is solo infant care through the school hours, then all three children from 3:00 pm. Genuine newborn and infant experience is therefore central to this role, not incidental to it.
It is important that the nanny can follow the children's routines, keep the day running smoothly, plan engaging activities, and foster an educational environment — outdoor play, reading, games, arts and crafts, parks and the library, playdates, and other age-appropriate activities.
The parents are highly involved and active and are looking for a nanny to partner with them, set a great example, and be an extension of them. They are not looking to outsource parenting. They set the philosophy, discipline, screens, food, sleep, independence, and the nanny follows through and implements the wants and wishes of the parents.
Nanny responsibilities include
Meeting the daily scheduling needs of the children
School drop-offs and pickups, and driving to activities
Engaging with the children on an age-appropriate level
Playing with the children inside and outside the home
Hands-on learning activities
Planning and booking summer camps and school-holiday programming, and managing the associated schedule and logistics
School paperwork, forms, and booking and tracking the children's appointments
Caring for the children when they are unwell and home from school
Household duties (children are the priority)
The family employs a separate full-time Executive Housekeeper/Cook, Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm, who handles the cleaning of the home, all bed linens, the adults' laundry, the kitchen, and the parents' meals. The nanny and the Executive Housekeeper/Cook work alongside one another; neither manages the other, and both report directly to the parents.
The nanny's household duties are limited to the children:
The girls' clothing, washing, folding and putting away
The girls' meals, snacks and packed lunches
Keeping the children's rooms, play spaces, and gear organized throughout the day
Seasonal clothing sorts and toy rotation
Clearing up after the children's meals
Sanitizing toys and the children's frequently used surfaces
Discretion and confidentiality
Both parents run a business and work from home. The nanny will be asked to sign a confidentiality agreement at the start of employment, and is expected to exercise complete discretion regarding the family, the children, the home, and anything seen or heard in the household. This includes no photographs of the children, the family, or the home shared publicly or on social media, and no reference to the family online.
Pets
The family has two mini Goldendoodles and a dog walker. The nanny should be comfortable with dogs in the home. No dog-related duties except during overnight shifts or when caring for the children while the parents travel.
