Full-Time Patient Care Technician - UPMC Presbyterian MICU

As a Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician with UPMC Presbyterian, you'll make a meaningful difference on our team by working with our Life Changers to provide high-quality patient care.

Nursing Support roles require working rotating shifts, including daytime, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts. Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians will also be expected to work 12-hour shifts, with the possibility of a mix of 8-hour and 12-hour shifts.

All inexperienced hired candidates are required to complete a mandatory training course, with full attendance expected for the entire duration.

About the Role:

Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians provide routine patient care and support the department services in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role will be directed by nurses and/or physicians to ensure that the highest degree of quality patient care can be maintained at all times. Patient care duties may include, but are not limited to, ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients, and blood glucose, vital signs, simple dressings, EKGs, bladder scans, and all specimen collections.

• High school diploma or GED. •Must also have either a1 Year of general healthcare experience, OR b 6 months of experience as UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire/transfer/promotion for those with less than 1 year of experience, ORcenrollment in PT/OT/PA program or related healthcare training program with completion of at least one clinical rotation, OR dcompletion of a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field. •Successful completion of UPMC patient care technician class•Successful completion of eRecord training.•Emergency Medical Technician (EMTor Paramedic or currently enrolled in an EMT or Paramedic program preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
