Join Wasatch Behavioral Health as a Full-Time Peer Support Specialist at our Receiving & Outreach Center (ROC) in Provo, Utah, earning $16.49–$21.95/hour. In this onsite role, you'll use your lived experience, empathy, and problem-solving skills to support adults experiencing mental health crises and help create meaningful change in your community. The WBH Receiving & Outreach Center provides immediate access to crisis mental health evaluations, consultations, and Mobile Crisis Outreach (MCOT) services for individuals in Utah and Wasatch Counties, partnering closely with local law enforcement when needed. Staffed 24/7 by master-level therapists and peer support specialists trained to respond to suicide and other crisis mental health concerns, the ROC offers a supportive, team-oriented environment where you can make a direct impact while continuing to grow both personally and professionally.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Compensation:$16.49–$21.95 DOE and Certifications

What You'll Do as a Peer Support Specialist

  • Build and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients
  • Support a recovery-oriented program culture
  • Engage with clients individually and in group settings
  • Model healthy coping strategies and personal recovery
  • Observe, document, and report client progress
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques when appropriate
  • Provide both direct and indirect support to promote ongoing recovery

Qualifications

Applicants must meet ONE of the following options:

Option 1:

  • One year of post–high school education in social work, psychology, or a related field
  • One year of general work experience OR an equivalent mix of related education and experience

Option 2:

  • Self-identified lived experience in one of the following areas:
    • An individual in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder
    • A parent of a child with a behavioral health disorder
    • An adult with an ongoing supportive relationship with someone experiencing a behavioral health disorder

Additional Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of Peer Support Training through Utah DSAMH (preferred, not required)
  • Ability to problem-solve and maintain a client-centered approach
  • Spanish speakers may qualify for increased wages after testing

Employment at Wasatch Behavioral Health is contingent upon successful completion of a drug screen, motor vehicle record review and criminal background check.
