PURPOSE

Provide targeted, evidence-based instruction in reading and deliver ongoing instructional coaching and support to classroom teachers in the designated content area. The Reading Instructional Coach will be required to take direction and work intuitively to support the completion of the District's goals and objectives in a professional manner. The employee will be required to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Reports to: Building Principal (Direct Supervisor), working in coordination with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction.

Duration: 190 days

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the Building Principal prior to June 30th.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide targeted reading intervention to students aligned with the Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support framework as assigned.
  • Utilize screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring data to identify student needs, plan interventions, and track student growth over time.
  • Organize and assist with the scheduling and implementation of school-wide assessments.
  • Instructing and modeling best-practice instructional, classroom management, and student engagement strategies, co-teach lessons, and provide non-evaluative, constructive feedback to teachers.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and support for teachers integrating technology into their instruction.
  • Provide recommendations to principals for additional teacher practice evaluation needs.
  • Assist teachers in analyzing classroom and district data to drive Tier 1 core instruction and identify areas for classroom enrichment or intervention.
  • Attend and actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and teacher planning meetings to support collaborative data analysis and instructional design.
  • Partner with the building principal to execute targeted tasks and initiatives based on the ongoing needs of both students and teachers.
  • Collaborate directly with the Director of Curriculum & Instruction to ensure building-level practices align with district-wide academic goals and initiatives.
  • Plan and facilitate school or district-level professional development focused on literacy, as well as effective pedagogical practices.
  • Maintain teacher accountability regarding the effective execution of district-mandated curricula and academic standards.
  • Research, develop, and implement instructional strategies and resources.
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment that supports students with diverse needs and abilities during intervention pull-outs or push-ins.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and instructional goals.
  • Organize and assist with related school/district events and programs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Possess a Bachelor's Degree in Education or a content-related field (Master''s Degree in Reading, or Educational Leadership/Curriculum preferred). Hold the appropriate teaching certificate issued by the State of Wisconsin for the designated subject area; extensive understanding and experience with curriculum design, data analysis, instructional coaching, and intervention planning; strong communication skills (written and oral).

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, crawl or sit for prolonged periods with or without back support.

  • Must be able to follow safety practices at all times.
  • Move or lift packages or boxes up to 25 pounds; requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications, and/or to make fine distinctions in sounds.
  • Frequently remain in a stationary, standing, or walking position for extended periods of time.
  • Operate a computer, printer, copier, and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents, colleagues, administration, and all other members of the educational community.
  • Ability to instruct students and coach adults effectively and capably.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
  • Ability to use web-based programs (Skyward: SIS, IEP, G Suite for Education), e-mail, and technology (laptop, Smartboard, etc.) effectively.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Indoor classrooms/School, exposure to: student noise, lawn mowing, music, odors of food, mowed grass, and possible communicable diseases.
  • Outdoor schoolyard and grounds, field trips; exposure to temperatures (hot, warm, cool, cold), and exposure to mowed grass.
  • Regular and consistent work attendance.
