School Year Job Summary:

  • Administer routine and minor first aid to students.
  • Report statistics of student accidents, illness, and immunizations for the school nurse on a manual or automated system.
  • Compose and send written notices about health activities and concerns to students and parents as required.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with parents by phone as needed to communicate health-related concerns and updates.
  • Dispense medication to students as prescribed by the student's doctor, according to District policy.
  • Maintain close communication with the school nurse on proper procedures to be used in dealing with health problems and activities.
  • Work closely with teachers, counselors, administrators and parents on the health care needs of students.
  • Perform other health service duties as assigned by the nurse.
  • Maintain accurate routine records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summer Program Job responsibilities:

  • Assist with staff training on minor health needs for students and review any health plans with summer staff
  • Administer routine and minor first aid to students
  • Communicate any health concerns to students' parents as required.
  • Support with any healthcare needs of students
  • Maintain accurate routine records
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) certification required.
  • Previous work in a school health office setting preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to exercise judgment in dealing with emergencies and special health needs of students.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Dedication to providing the highest level of customer service to the school community.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with students, parents, and school staff members.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work responsibilities.
  • Display flexibility and openness to change.
  • Ability to initiate tasks based on situational needs.
  • Ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situations and respond in crisis situations.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing staff development and dedication to continuous professional growth.
  • Visual ability to read handwritten or typed documents, and the display screen of various office equipment and machines.
  • Member of the District wide Crisis Team

Schedule:

School year: 6.5 hours/day 178 days/ school year (student days)

Summer Schedule: 6.5 hours/day 48 days Spartan Care calendar days

Total: 226 days/year.

COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Wage: $20.33-$21.80
  • Differentials
  • Nursing Assistant certificate (CNA) $0.25
  • Medical Assistant certificate (CMA or RMA) $0.50
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license $1.50
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license (2-Year Nursing Degree) $2.50
  • Licensed School Nurse license (LSN) $6.50
