The School District of Lomira is seeking a dedicated, child-centered School Psychologist to join our dynamic team of educators. In our district, the School Psychologist plays a crucial role in promoting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students. The School Psychologist works closely with a facilitative administrative team, a progressive pupil services department, a hard-working and responsive special education department, and a relationship-focused and student-centered team of general educators and support staff in our passion and pursuit of excellent educational outcomes.

Interested candidates should hold Wisconsin DPI licensure as a school psychologist and demonstrate strong knowledge of psychological and educational problem solving and assessment processes, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and skillfully facilitate solution-oriented problem solving processes.

Core Responsibilities of the School Psychologist Include:

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify and address students'' academic, behavioral, and emotional needs.
  • Utilize a variety of assessment tools and techniques to gather relevant information.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals in gathering and interpreting assessment results to develop appropriate interventions.
  • Use technology and databases in evidence-based practices, decision making, program evaluation, assessment, and progress monitoring.

Intervention and Counseling:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to support students in overcoming academic, social, and emotional challenges.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based interventions to address behavioral concerns and promote positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with students, families, and staff to design and implement classroom-based interventions.
  • Understand and meet all relevant ethical, professional, and legal standards to ensure high quality services and to protect the rights of all parties.

Consultation and Collaboration:

  • Demonstrate content knowledge and interpersponal skills necessary to effectively communicate, collaborate, and lead.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a supportive and inclusive school environment.
  • Offer guidance and consultation on academic and behavioral strategies to enhance student success.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and develop individualized plans
  • Understand regular and special education legal reguiqrements at both the state and federal level, and ensure compliance with these requirements.

Prevention and Education:

  • Work as an effective change agent, offering leadership and professional development to staff and school teams.
  • Design and implement programs to prevent and address issues such as bullying, substance abuse, and mental health concerns.
  • Provide training and workshops for teachers, parents, and staff on topics related to mental health, learning strategies, and behavior management.
