The School District of Cudahy is a diverse, PK through Grade 12 public school district located just south of Milwaukee, WI on the shores of Lake Michigan serving 2200 students. The School District of Cudahy staff focuses our efforts on the belief that every student is capable of high achievement levels. The School District of Cudahy is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join our team.
Purpose: Provide instruction within the educational environment, provide supervision, communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally. The Special Education Teacher will be required to take direction and work intuitively to support the completion of the District's goals and objectives in a professional manner. The Special Education Teacher will be required to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
Terms of Employment:
Reports to the Director of Special Education
Duration: 190 days
Evaluation: Performance will be reviewed annually prior to June 30th
Essential Job Functions:
Data-Driven Instruction: Proficiency in using assessment data to inform instructional decisions, monitor student progress, and adjust interventions for students.
Expertise in accommodations and modifications: Ability to communicate with students and teachers to make sure the student is receiving what is needed to access the general education curriculum.
Exceptional Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, their families, general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers.
Expertise in Intervention Strategies: Experience in implementing evidence-based instructional and behavioral interventions specifically designed for students with various disabilities.
Knowledge of Assessment and IEP Development: Ability to conduct appropriate assessments and develop comprehensive and individualized IEPs.
Behavioral Management Skills: Expertise in implementing positive behavior supports and effective strategies for managing and de-escalating challenging behaviors to create a positive learning environment.
Compassionate and Collaborative Approach: A genuine desire to advocate for and support students with disabilities and work collaboratively with families and school staff.
Knowledge of Special Education Law: Understanding of relevant federal and state special education laws, IEP processes, and student rights within the school context.
Knowledge of progress monitoring tools and testing materials: Ability to administer informal and formal assessments and interpret results to others.

Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor's Degree (Education) or related field. Hold the appropriate teaching certificate issued by the State of Wisconsin; understanding and experience with curriculum design, planning and instruction; strong communication skills (written and oral).
Physical and Mental Demands:
Must be able to stand, walk, climb, crawl or sit for prolonged periods with or without back support.
Must be able to maintain concentration and focus on tasks.
Must be able to follow safety practices at all times.
Move or lift packages or boxes up to 25 pounds; requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly.
Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sounds.
Frequently remain in a stationary, standing, or walking position for extended periods of time.
Operate a computer, printer, copier, and other standard office equipment.
Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with parents, colleagues, administration and all other members of the educational community.
Ability to instruct students effectively and capably.
Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Ability to use web-based programs (Skyward:SIS, IEP, G Suite for Education), e-mail, and technology (laptop, Smartboard, etc.) effectively
Working Conditions:
Indoor classrooms/School, exposure to: student noise, lawn mowing, music, odors of food, mowed grass and possible communicable diseases.
Outdoor schoolyard and grounds, field trips; exposure to: temperatures (hot warm, cool, cold), and exposure to mowed grass.
Regular and consistent work attendance.
