Job Responsibilities
- Assess referred patients to determine speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that align with physician recommendations and patient/family goals.
- Administer speech-language pathology interventions using evidence-based practices.
- Complete thorough and timely documentation related to patient evaluations, treatments, and progress.
- Monitor patient outcomes and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare staff regarding treatment plans and therapeutic techniques.
- Assist patients in achieving the highest possible level of independence and functional communication.
- Maintain efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
- Assist with orientation and mentoring of new employees and volunteers as needed.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, rehabilitation professionals, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Adhere to all hospital safety policies, regulatory standards, and professional practice guidelines.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for the patient population served.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Certification Requirements
- Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Current California Speech-Language Pathology License required, or a Temporary California Speech-Language Pathology License with a commitment to obtain permanent California licensure within one year of hire.
- Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification through the American Heart Association required.
Experience Requirements
- Previous Speech-Language Pathology experience is not required.
- New graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
