The Subspecialty Surgical PA Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is seeking to add a full-time board-certified Physician Assistant to join its surgical APP team. The Surgical APP Service at Vassar Brothers Medical Center is a hospital-based group that offers a supportive and team-based environment with exposure to multiple surgical subspecialties including but not limited to Urology and Gyn-Oncology. Responsibilities currently include OR first assist coverage as well as rounding on surgical inpatients, perform consults, admissions, and discharges.
- OR First Assisting- Surgical PA Services first assist in the OR
- In-house shift to include management of surgical floor patients. Specialties covered include, but are not limited to, Urology and Gyn-Oncology.
- Perform history and physicals for any consults or admissions from the emergency department or inpatient floors for the surgery department
- Confer with attending physician, nursing staff, and other advanced practice providers in plan of care to ensure optimal quality patient care
- Night Coverage – On call from home. Night coverage responsibilities include first assisting emergent OR cases, admissions and consults for general surgery.
- Floor Procedures- Surgical PA’s are responsible for floor procedures including but not limited to NG tube insertion and removal, wound vac and dressings changes, bedside I&D.
This position is for full-time days, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (4 day work week), with required holiday coverage, weekend and call obligation.
Qualifications
- The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and be NCCPA certified or Nurse Practitioner program with licensure.
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner by the New York State Department of Education required
- New graduates will be considered

Salary: $125,000.00 - $160,000.00 annually; commensurate or relative to experience
