Position Summary Information
Definition
West Valley-Mission CCD (WVM) and the Department of Athletics is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track instructor coaching Tennis at Mission College and West Valley College. We are currently seeking applicants who have successful experience and a genuine interest in serving a wide range of students from different backgrounds, with a particular focus in serving students from historically excluded and marginalized groups.
This position will perform head tennis coaching assignment for both men's and women's tennis including, but not limited to, supervision of athletes, organization of practices, and scheduling of games; creating, managing, and implementing year-round strength and conditioning program; coordination of recruitment and retention of student-athletes; represent West Valley College by attending CCCAA, Sport Coaches Association, and conference meetings; comply with California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Rules and Regulations; conduct oversight of the Tennis program budget; provide leadership to the overall organization and direction of the Tennis program; direct public relations and fundraising activities in support of the Tennis program and the athletic program in general; serve the Tennis program and the athletic department in various support roles such as coordination of athletic tutoring and fundraising; recruit, train, and oversee a staff of assistant tennis coaches, participate in professional development activities; and perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs.

Assignment
This is a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track faculty position that is anticipated to begin in Fall 2026.
Coaching assignments may include day and/or evening classes, Monday thru
Saturday, as needed. This position is represented by the West Valley-Mission Federation of Teachers (WVMFT / AFT Local 6554).
