Reports To: Associate Dean of Retention

Salary range: $71,619 - $99,041* annually

Olympic College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Faculty Counselor to begin working Fall Quarter, 2026. The College is seeking outstanding candidates with a strong commitment to equity and social justice and a passion for providing high quality counseling services to a diverse student population. The staff of Olympic College Counseling Services, housed within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services, work as a team to provide direct services and referrals to enhance student retention and success. Counselors also serve as a supportive resource for, and provide consultation to, faculty and staff regarding their student-related concerns. Essential Functions

• Providing direct services to new, returning, and continuing students, including personal counseling, crisis intervention, career counseling, group counseling, high school completion, academic counseling interventions, and referrals to College and community resources for student success/retention, and behavioral health services.
• Intervening and providing guidance for students placed on academic intervention or warning and students who are experiencing barriers to academic success; participate in college wide student retention/success initiatives such as academic standards progress.
• Serving as a resource to faculty regarding student issues that impact academic success; liaison to instructional divisions and the community providing counseling and retention-related services.
• Serving as a Coordination, Assessment, Response, and Education (CARE) team member as needed.
• Developing and facilitating workshops to enhance student success; collaborating with others to promote, develop, and decide workshop needs.
• Administering and interpreting individual and group career assessments.
• Maintaining records of contacts with students and completing forms as required.
• Adhering to American Counseling Association (ACA), and/or other related professional standards, and state of Washington ethical and legal standards.
• Participating in faculty development activities and training; department and college wide activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required and agreed to between the faculty member and the dean such asa counselor on-call for campus crisis support/intervention during working hours or provide coverage and services during non-instruction weeks in coordination with the counseling team and supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Masters degree in counseling, social work, counseling psychology, or related field from an accredited institution.
• Graduate program must include at least two quarters of supervised counseling practicum/clinical work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Licensed or eligible to be licensed prior to employment as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC),Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the State of Washington.
• SUDP credential and/or other similarly related credential.
• Counseling training and experience that supports the ability to address a wide variety of issues including suicide prevention, crisis intervention, stress management, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, domestic violence, sexual assault, and parenting concerns.
• Two years of full-time experience in community college providing personal, career, and/or academic counseling.
• Demonstrated expertise, experience, and commitment to providing culturally responsive and affirming services.
• Broad knowledge of community resources.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with abroad range of faculty, staff, students, and community population.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts.
• Effective presentation skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, in particular Word and Outlook.

Additional Information

Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.

This is a full-time faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year. The salary listed is a range based on per month for the quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments may be a part of the instructional load.
