Full Time Thoracic Surgery Physician Assistant

Northwell Health Department of Thoracic Surgery is seeking a board-certified full-time Thoracic Surgical physician assistant to join its group at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. This is a hospital-based, full-time rounding position focused on the care and management of thoracic surgery patients.

Job Requirements and Responsibilities:

• The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and be NCCPA certified. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical assessment, inpatient care, and patient management skills.

• Responsibilities include rounding on hospitalized thoracic surgery patients, performing daily clinical assessments, reviewing laboratory and diagnostic results, developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with the thoracic surgery team, and assisting with discharge planning and coordination of care.

• The Physician Assistant will work collaboratively with thoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary care team to provide high-quality postoperative and inpatient care.

• This is a full-time position consisting of 10-hour weekday shifts, 7:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with weekend call coverage from home approximately once per month.

• Candidates with at least one year of thoracic surgery, surgical, or inpatient experience preferred.
