Job Summary:

Served as a Fulbright Teaching Excellence and Achievement (TEA) Scholar and Instructor of Spanish I and Spanish II at Bethune-Cookman University, fostering language proficiency and cross-cultural understanding through innovative, student-centered instruction. Designed and delivered engaging lessons aligned with communicative language teaching principles, emphasizing speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while integrating authentic cultural perspectives from the Spanish-speaking world.

Participated in professional development seminars focused on contemporary teaching methodologies, student-centered learning, content-based instruction, lesson planning, instructional technology, and the U.S. education system, incorporating these evidence-based practices into classroom instruction to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Collaborated with faculty, educators, and local school partners to exchange best practices in language instruction, promote global perspectives in education, and strengthen international academic partnerships. Engaged in classroom observations, mentoring, and professional collaboration to share instructional strategies and support continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

Contributed to the university community by participating in cultural programming, campus events, and outreach activities that celebrated linguistic diversity, encouraged intercultural dialogue, and enriched the educational experience of students, faculty, and the surrounding community. Supported the Fulbright Program''s mission of promoting mutual understanding through educational and cultural exchange.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Teach undergraduate Spanish I and Spanish II courses using communicative and student-centered instructional practices.
• Integrate instructional technology and innovative pedagogical strategies into classroom instruction.
• Foster an inclusive, engaging learning environment that supports diverse student populations.
• Collaborate with university faculty and partner educators to exchange best practices and enhance instructional effectiveness.
• Participate in professional development, cultural exchange activities, and community engagement initiatives aligned with the Fulbright mission.
• Promote international education, global citizenship, and intercultural understanding through classroom instruction and campus programming.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• Master''s degree or earned doctorate in English, Rhetoric, Composition, Writing Studies, Literature, Cultural Studies, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 18 graduate semester hours in English or writing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to effective undergraduate teaching.

Physical Requirements:

This position is performed in a standard academic environment.

Faculty should be able to:

• Move throughout the campus as required.
• Use computers and instructional technologies.
• Perform the normal physical activities associated with classroom instruction.
