We are seeking an experienced Functional Area Analyst III to support the Office of the Secretary of War (OSW-CAPE) Joint Data Support (JDS) division. This role directly contributes to high-visibility Department of War studies, senior leader decision support, and future force planning.
You will provide expert analytical support; manage complex datasets; generate metadata, executive summaries, and study materials; and operate across multiple classification environments (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS).
This position is ideal for candidates who have deep operational analysis or military domain knowledge and thrive in fast-paced analytic environments with tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide analytic support to 100+ high-priority studies annually, delivering data, historical analyses, and points of contact within required timelines
* Capture, review, and maintain metadata on ongoing DoW studies, contributing to JDSs digital-thread knowledge ecosystem.
* Provide functional domain expertise (air/space, ground, maritime, logistics, C2/C4, ISR) for at least 25 studies per quarter.
* Produce high-quality executive summaries, briefings, and internal study products within 48 hours of request.
* Conduct ad-hoc studies as assigned, delivering qualitative and quantitative analysis.
* Utilize structured analytic techniques, advanced dataset handling, and SQL to collect, refine, query, and validate complex, multi-source datasets.
* Support validation and quality-control activities within classification-aware workflows.
* Collaborate daily with Knowledge Managers and developers to improve metadata capture and analytic processes.
* Operate within JDSs eight-phase standardized process framework: Intake, Triage, Execution, Review, Publication, Dissemination, Feedback, Archive.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelors degree.
* 10+ years of experience in at least two of the following:
- Military/operations research (e.g., operations, munitions, readiness, deployment patterns).
- DoD PPBE process.
- Joint Capability Development (JCIDS) or equivalent frameworks.
- Intelligence collection or analysis.
* 10+ years of experience working with DoD stakeholders to collect, maintain, and refine complex datasets.
* 3+ years leading analytic or operations research teams.
* Demonstrated ability to interface with senior clients on data-driven policy decisions.
* Proficiency in SQL for querying force structure, logistics, readiness, or intelligence databases.
* Active TS/SCI.
Desired Skills
* Experience supporting senior-level DoD studies or wargaming.
* Experience generating metadata, contributing to knowledge graphs, or supporting digital-thread environments.
* Experience with SharePoint, ADO/Jira, MilSuite, Intelink-TS, or similar enterprise tools.
