Functional QA Tester

Client Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Functional QA Tester to support digital product development and quality assurance initiatives. The organization focuses on delivering reliable, high-quality digital applications and values collaboration across technology, product, business, and development teams.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
$45/hr - $55/hr

Position Overview:
The Functional QA Tester will lead quality assurance activities throughout the software development lifecycle. This role will be responsible for test planning, functional and integration testing, defect management, automation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable applications.
The ideal Functional QA Tester will bring strong technical testing expertise, experience with automation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with product owners, business analysts, developers, and support teams.

Responsibilities of the Functional QA Tester:

• Lead test strategy, planning, design, and execution.
• Develop detailed test plans and comprehensive test cases.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Support user acceptance testing and release validation.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts.
• Validate APIs, databases, integrations, and backend processes.
• Identify, document, track, and verify software defects.
• Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, developers, and support teams.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies throughout the SDLC.
• Support production verification and hypercare activities.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote testing best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement across QA processes, tools, and automation.

Required Experience/Skills for the Functional QA Tester:

• 5+ years of experience as a Functional QA Tester, Senior QA Engineer, or similar quality assurance role.
• Strong experience with functional, integration, regression, system, and end-to-end testing.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts.
• Experience validating APIs, databases, integrations, and backend processes.
• Strong defect identification, documentation, tracking, and resolution verification experience.
• Experience supporting testing throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies and QA best practices.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Functional QA Tester:

• Experience leading QA strategies, test plans, and testing initiatives.
• Experience with user acceptance testing, release validation, production verification, and hypercare.
• Prior experience mentoring junior QA professionals.
• Experience improving QA processes, automation frameworks, and testing tools.
• Strong understanding of software development and product delivery processes.
• Experience collaborating with business analysts, product owners, developers, and technical support teams.

Education Requirements:

• Relevant education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Equivalent professional experience will be considered.
