We are hiring for a Functional Test Lead opportunity.

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Functional Test Lead with strong expertise in manual and automated testing, payroll systems, and software quality assurance. The ideal candidate will lead functional testing activities throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring high quality software solutions through comprehensive test planning, execution, automation strategy, and collaboration with cross functional stakeholders. Experience with payroll processing, AI driven testing tools, and Agile methodologies is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead functional testing activities across enterprise payroll applications
  • Design and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases
  • Perform manual and automated testing to validate application functionality
  • Develop and maintain test scripts for functional, regression, smoke, and end to end testing
  • Create complex test data sets to validate business logic, workflows, and error handling
  • Execute regression testing to ensure new enhancements do not impact existing functionality
  • Conduct smoke testing to validate critical system functionality
  • Perform end to end testing across complete payroll business processes
  • Validate payroll calculations, deductions, taxes, benefits, garnishments, bonuses, and gross to net processing
  • Verify payroll lifecycle processes including onboarding, HR integrations, payroll simulations, payroll processing, and termination activities
  • Validate retroactive payroll calculations and salary adjustments
  • Monitor testing activities to ensure compliance with USPS Technology Solution Life Cycle (TSLC) standards
  • Analyze testing results, identify defects, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues
  • Utilize AI driven testing tools to improve testing efficiency and automation
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Developers, Managers, and business stakeholders throughout the SDLC

Required Skills:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in technology or software development
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manual and automated software testing
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Deep knowledge of software testing methodologies
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills
  • Experience developing test plans, test scripts, and testing procedures
  • Payroll domain expertise
  • Knowledge of payroll processing cycles
  • Understanding of payroll tax calculations
  • Experience with payroll deductions, benefits, garnishments, and bonuses
  • Knowledge of gross to net payroll calculations
  • Understanding of payroll onboarding and HR integrations
  • Experience validating payroll simulations and paycheck processing
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting principles
  • Experience with AI driven test automation tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders

  • DevSecOps
  • Agile Scrum
  • VersionOne or equivalent Agile project management tools
  • SDLC best practices
  • Payroll systems implementation experience
  • AI and Machine Learning tools including Microsoft Copilot, IBM watsonx, ReDux, or similar platforms

Education Requirement:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Technology, Software Development, Computer Science, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.

Note: Candidates without a relevant degree must possess an additional 5 years of directly related professional experience.
