Job DetailsWe are seeking an experienced Fund Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller with a strong background in real estate and investment fund accounting.
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of accounting experience and an understanding of real estate fund structures. This person will play a key role in the accounting and reporting function and should be comfortable working with GP/LP structures, investor allocations, waterfalls, capital activity, and month-end close.
Responsibilities:
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Perform and review fund-level accounting and financial reporting
- Manage accounting related to GP and LP structures
- Prepare and review capital calls and distributions
- Calculate and review investor allocations and waterfall calculations
- Maintain accurate accounting records across funds and investment entities
- Work with Private Placement Memorandums (PPMs), operating agreements, and other fund documentation
- Assist with investor and management reporting
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax providers, fund administrators, and other third-party partners as needed
- Support accounting and reporting for real estate investments and related entities
- Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting as the organization continues to grow
- Take on increasing ownership of the accounting function with the opportunity to grow into a Controller-level role
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Real estate accounting experience required
- Fund accounting or fund management experience strongly preferred
- Understanding of GP/LP structures
- Experience with waterfalls, capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations
- Familiarity with PPMs and fund governing documents
- Strong month-end close experience
- Experience within private equity real estate, real estate investment management, or a similar environment preferred
- Strong Excel and financial reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function
