The Fund Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial management and reporting of investment funds. This role ensures accurate accounting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and timely reporting to internal teams and investors.
Fund Controllers collaborate closely with portfolio managers, CFOs, operations teams, and auditors to maintain financial integrity and operational efficiency.
Oversee day-to-day fund accounting and financial reporting for multiple investment funds
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Ensure compliance with fund governing documents, investor agreements, and regulatory standards
Manage capital calls, distributions, and fund cash flows
Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors
Maintain accurate fund records, trial balances, and reconciliations
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis for funds
Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fund accounting
Prepare reports and deliverables for internal leadership, investors, and governing boards
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred
Strong experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, and investor reporting
Knowledge of private equity, hedge fund, or venture capital fund structures preferred
Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Investran, eFront, Geneva)
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple funds and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact with senior management and investors
