You arrive on the floor, review the Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedule, and head straight to our furnaces and secondary equipment. You perform checks, log findings, and tackle minor fixes. When an issue pops up, you troubleshoot with guidance, swap parts, and return assets to service. Throughout the shift, you follow safety procedures, complete Maintenance Request Forms, and keep the shop organized for the next tech.
What you will do
Execute preventive and predictive maintenance on furnaces, secondary equipment, and physical structures.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues with supervision as needed.
Assist with installation and upkeep of mechanical and electrical systems.
Apply foundational electrical, mechanical, welding, and pipefitting skills.
Participate in safety training and follow lockout/tagout and confined space practices.
Maintain and contribute to the facility’s Preventive Maintenance System.
Supervisory responsibilities
No direct reports unless specifically assigned by the maintenance department.
Qualifications & training
General maintenance abilities; familiarity with industrial maintenance is a plus.
Able to read prints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Capable of completing Maintenance Request Forms accurately.
Math skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning: follow written, verbal, or diagrammed instructions using common sense.
Additional training needs may be identified during employee appraisals.
Education & experience
High school diploma or GED preferred (not required). About 1–3 months of related experience/training or an equivalent mix of education and experience preferred.
Certificates & permits
Hi-lo (forklift) license.
Confined space permits and/or training.
Other required training
Complete Client course on confined space and lockout.
Physical demands
Frequent reaching with hands and arms.
Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling in confined spaces.
Occasional lifting/moving up to 25 pounds.
Work environment
Frequent work near moving mechanical parts with exposure to extreme heat and open flames.
Occasional work at heights or in precarious locations.
