Job Summary/Responsibilities:The student will assist the Cawein Gallery Coordinator with the following tasks. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary:
Set exhibition schedule. The typical schedule features three exhibitions in the fall and three exhibitions in the Spring, each running for approximately one month. The last show of the academic year is always the Senior Capstone Exhibition
Contact artists, prepare contracts, loan agreements and letter of agreements for exhibiting artists, and make arrangements for the delivery, installation and return of exhibited artwork
Arrange for catered opening receptions and accompanying artist's talks for each exhibition. Artist's talks can be conducted in-person or via Zoom
Install each exhibition, depending on what the artists want. Some artists want to install their own work, some don't want to be involved at all, and some want to collaborate. Prepare and print wall labels, biography statements, artist statements, exhibition title signs, etc
Update the "Current Exhibit" and "Past Exhibits" pages on the Cawein Gallery website, prepare calendar posts and news posts about each exhibition and opening reception, as well as contacting local media outlets
The student may also be asked to write reviews or additional materials regarding the exhibitions.
