FWS - Chamber of Commerce Intern - Forest Grove Cornelius Chamber of Commerce (CSWS)

Location: Off Campus at Forest Grove Cornelius Chamber of Commerce (2417 Pacific Ave, Forest Grove, OR 97116)

Wage: $16.80/hr

Length of employment: 2026-27 academic year

Purpose of Position:

At the Forest Grove Cornelius Chamber of Commerce, interns become part of a collaborative, mission driven team dedicated to strengthening our local economy and supporting businesses, entrepreneurs, and the community. We believe in mentoring students by providing meaningful, hands on experiences that go beyond observation.

Interns have the opportunity to work on real projects in event planning, marketing, tourism, community engagement, business development, and nonprofit operations while receiving guidance from experienced professionals. Through mentorship, networking,

and practical experience, students build confidence, develop transferable skills, expand their professional network, and gain a deeper understanding of leadership, economic development, and community impact.

Our goal is not only to provide an internship, but to invest in the next generation of leaders by creating an environment where students can learn, grow, and make a meaningful contribution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Interns play an active role in supporting the Chamber's daily operations by assisting with:

• Community events, member engagement, business outreach, tourism initiatives, marketing and communications, and administrative projects.
• Students work alongside Chamber staff on meaningful assignments, gaining hands on experience in project coordination, event planning, social media, professional communication, and community engagement.
• As interns grow in their skills and confidence, they are encouraged to take on increasing responsibility, contribute ideas, and help advance initiatives that support local businesses and strengthen the community.

Competencies to Practice:

Throughout the internship, Chamber staff mentor students as they develop key competencies including communication, leadership, teamwork, digital literacy, problem solving, professionalism, and community engagement, preparing them for future career success.
