Department Name, location of department: Finders Keepers Free Store, Drake House on Forest Grove Campus

Wage: $16.80/hr

Length of employment: Full 26-27 academic year

Purpose of Position:

The Finders Keepers Free Store (pacificu.edu/finderskeepers) is located on the Pacific University campus and open to the campus and broader community. Our

mission is to reduce mass consumerism and waste, and ensure everyone has access to essential resources.

Students working for the store promote sustainability while also helping the community. By working in a team and problem solving together, they gain organizational skills, teamwork and leadership skills, and communication skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check FKFS donation boxes and process donations
  • Organize new items in the free store according to instructors from the Store Manager and CSS director
  • Tidy up store
  • Think creatively and practically about what needs to be done
  • Work as a team to participate in and maybe even organize Pop Up, co-sponsored events, and upcycling events with items from the FKFS
  • Attend meetings for FKFS staff
  • Communicate regularly with the Store Manager and CSS director

  • No prior experience needed, but students must be organized, disciplined, reliable, self-sufficient (able to work alone at times and make practical decisions), and able to work in a team.
  • They must appreciate the ethical and practical dimensions of second-hand items and sustainability, and enjoy working on related projects.
  • They must have good communication skills.
  • Initiative and some leadership skills not required, but are a bonus.
