Summary Description:

Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Student and Data Systems, the coordinator, student and data systems, leads, coordinates, and supports daily operations and project management for the unit. Coordinates and supports the transition and proper utilization of non-instructional technology used for student data systems, school and central office operations. The coordinator provides strategic oversight of process/project management, planning, development, coordination, implementation, resource allocation, communication, and the successful delivery of new features and programs related to student systems. Leads and supports the development and delivery of new system requirements, new MCPS-developed products, and training materials for Students and Data Systems (SDS) products. Trains central office and school staff in the proper use of non-instructional technology, software and systems; troubleshoots, resolves technical issues. Manages vendor relationships and coordinates the development and delivery of vendor-developed products. Oversees testing, validation, and defect management for Synergy software releases and internally-developed MCPS systems. Supervises, oversees and directs the work of supporting staff in the unit.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Demonstrated evidence of project management experience for school district-wide project implementation and managing central office process improvement changes related to student data.Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to support current information technologies and industry best practices. Applies prior experience and sound technical judgment to deliver effective technology solutions, improved processes and workflows, and support to staff across schools and central offices.Strong understanding and hands-on experience in the design, development, and testing of software using established methodologies. In-depth knowledge of Student Information System (SIS), preferably Synergy, including modules such as teacher and parent portals (e.g., TeacherVUE, ParentVUE), Online Registration, Special Education (SE) Section 504, or comparable systems used to manage student data in a large organization.Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including SharePoint, Teams, and Planner. Familiarity with Google tools, or similar collaboration tools, as well as experience with helpdesk systems, enterprise data platforms, or data warehouses, preferably MCPS Helpdesk, HUB+, and the Data Warehouse.\ or equivalent systems.Working knowledge of data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI (e.g., MCPS Dashboard) or similar platforms; experience with professional development or learning management systems (e.g., Professional Development Online (PDO)and internal business or financial systems, such as MCPS Business Center, or comparable organizational tools. General understanding of public school student systems, preferably MCPS network infrastructure and technologies. Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and human relations abilities. Proven capability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including school-based staff, central office teams, students, parents, and community members. Knowledge of or ability to quickly obtain knowledge of and apply the six leadership standards established by the Montgomery County Association of Administrators and Principals.

Bachelor?s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Five years of experience across all phases of student information systems software development methodologies and the full software development life cycle (SDLC). Proven track record in managing complex projects and successfully delivering new technologies and services within an educational or enterprise environment. Proven successful experience in the operations, support, and enhancement of student information systems. Demonstrated ability to adapt to and support evolving customer needs, with a focus on user-centered solutions.Strong experience in leading, mentoring, and evaluating high-performing teams.Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously with effective prioritization and resource allocation. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical and project-related information to diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with project management tools, such as Microsoft Planner or Azure DevOps, and workflow management tools.
