The Gage Engineer supports the manufacturing operations and confirms that the functional gage designs are
consistent with the company standards. They assist and coordinate gage R&R studies and tracking and
certifying all gages used within the plant by working closely with all customer stakeholders related to quality
and gaging. The Gage Engineer also maintains a positive relationship with gage related vendors and service
providers. This person will also coordinate gage certification and approval and ensure plant personnel are
trained on gaging techniques and measurements.
Responsibilities:
- Tasks listed are not meant to be all-encompassing:
- Maintain usage and completeness of the plant Gage Trak or applicable database
- Identify possible improvements to existing gages
- Create reports to manage gage recertification
- Track the repair history of gages
- Track costs associated with premature failures of non-calibrated gages
- Make recommendations on increasing or decreasing the frequency of calibrations based on historical data
- Retrieve quotes for costs effectiveness of repairing gages
- Manage vendor relationships
- Assist the plant in trouble shooting any issues for the floor CMM’s
- Assist the Plant Maintenance group in the repair and troubleshooting of failing gages
- Attend all required cross-functional meetings
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
- Report and document Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, and Continuous Improvements
- Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards for the site
- Make decisions within the limits of general standards or procedures
- Report near misses and incidents and cooperate with investigations

Additional functions if Required by Site:
- Interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications
- Perform gage program modifications
- Complete layered audits of floor gages on a monthly basis
- Efficiently repair most mechanical and electronic gages
- Participate in gage recall and certification tracking activities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to work with little to no supervision
- Good written and oral communication skills

Requirements
Requirements:
- 4-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Experience in manufacturing in the automotive industry
- Prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at a time
- Must be able to access, navigate, and work within a manufacturing facility that may or may not be temperature controlled
