Job Description:
Compensation: $15/hour
Museum Installers at MAAM are vital members of the museum team, ensuring the safety of exhibited artwork through careful installation and maintenance of exhibitions. Museum Installers receive ongoing training inprofessional art handling and installation techniques and gain experience toward potential museum and gallery careers.
Museum Installer schedules are variable and follow the installation schedule of MAAM. Work opportunities are offered throughout the year. Successful candidates for this position are self-motivated, responsible, reliable, team-oriented, and willing to continually learn.
Museum Installers are supervised by the Exhibitions Manager.
Essential Job Duties:
Assist in the installation, deinstallation, and maintenance of gallery exhibitions
Assist with special events, including event setup, tech support, and breakdown
Assist with special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Experience with exhibition installation and deinstallation in a museum or gallery setting
Must be able to lift up to 40lbs, stand, walk, carry, stoop, kneel, twist, squat, bend, and reach overhead. Comfortable with heights, climbing, ladders,s and mechanical lifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic knowledge of of hand and power tools
Basic knowledge of art-handing best practices
Expectations:
Adhere to professional standards of art handling and installation
Enforce and abide by museum rules
Be punctual, reliable, and professional
