Job Summary

Schedule: 12 hour shifts with no set schedule - including day or night shifts and weekend shifts as needed

Location: 14035 Industrial Rd., Houston, TX 77015

The Gang Foreman's essential job function is to be in charge of all operations pertaining to the "Hold" they are assigned such as, but not limited to, staging cargo, unbracing and chocking cargo, securing cargo, positioning cargo, supervising the gang and any other required job task while working in the 'Hold" of the Vessel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Reports to Vessel Superintendent for daily assignments.
• Works in aboard/ in "hold" of vessel.
• Verifies that each Team Member within their gang wears the mandatory safety gear, and equipment inside the "hold" of the Vessel.
• Assists Walking Foreman and Superintendent to coordinate labor and safety issues.
• May fill in for various positions to assist in operations.
• Assists and coordinates positioning out of gauge and heavy lift cargo discharge and loading inside the "Hold" of the Vessel.
• Supervises Team Members assigned to their Gang.
• Addresses any personnel or labor issues to Team Members assigned to their gang as well as the Walking Foreman and Vessel Superintendent.
• Ensures that Team Members are following safety and labor guidelines.
• Ability to read and interpret Vessel Stow Plans and technical documents.
• May prep cargo, load/unload, brace cargo, and sweep out containers. Utilizes cord strapping/banding to secure cargo for transport. Tightens strapping with ratchet to cut rope, cardboard to pack and secure cargo.
• Vessel Access: May climb up or down gangway to access vessel (46 - 60 steps; varies for each vessel depending on height of vessel and water level). Handrails are located on each side of gangway at waist height.
• Communicates via handheld radio with the Walking Foreman and/or Vessel Superintendent for various needs that pertain to the operations.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to pass and/or obtain all reporting, testing, and certifications as required for this position and location.
