Position Summary
The Gardener / Detail Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the appearance, health, and overall presentation of residential and commercial landscapes. This position focuses on detailed landscape maintenance, including plant care, weeding, pruning, bed maintenance, seasonal cleanups, and property detailing.
The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, has a strong attention to detail, enjoys working outdoors, and is committed to providing high-quality service to customers.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform detailed landscape and garden maintenance.
- Weed, cultivate, edge, and maintain landscape beds.
- Plant, transplant, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, and ornamental plants.
- Prune and trim shrubs, ornamental grasses, and other plants according to proper horticultural practices.
- Deadhead flowers and remove damaged or diseased plant material.
- Apply mulch, soil amendments, and other landscape materials as directed.
- Assist with seasonal color installations and landscape enhancements.
- Perform spring and fall cleanups.
- Remove leaves, debris, weeds, and unwanted vegetation.
- Maintain clean and attractive hardscape areas, including patios, walkways, curbs, and entrances.
- Perform property-detailing tasks such as blowing debris, cleaning up beds, and ensuring finished areas look neat and professional.
- Identify plant health issues, pests, weeds, and irrigation concerns and report them to management.
- Safely operate hand tools, power equipment, and small landscape equipment.
- Maintain and clean equipment and tools after use.
- Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Provide professional and courteous service to customers and represent the company positively.
- Complete assigned work efficiently while maintaining company quality standards.
Qualifications
- Previous landscaping, gardening, horticulture, or grounds maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Ability to identify common plants, weeds, and landscape issues is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Willingness to learn proper horticultural and landscape maintenance techniques.

Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent outdoor work and physical activity. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and regularly bend, kneel, stoop, lift, carry, push, and pull landscape materials and equipment.
