Job Description:

Apex Systems is seeking a Gas Automation Technician to support operations through hands‑on field automation and real‑time monitoring systems. This role is ideal for a technician with strong troubleshooting skills who is comfortable working with automation equipment, instrumentation, and operational data systems in a regulated utility environment.

Title: Gas Automation Technician

Location: Onsite- Maryland

Employment Type: Direct Hire

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot gas automation equipment at field locations
• Support and troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, and pressure sources used to monitor gas system conditions
• Ensure accurate transmission of pressure, flow, and status data to control and monitoring systems
• Support SCADA systems used for real‑time gas distribution monitoring and control
• Collaborate closely with Gas Operations, Engineering, and Control Room teams, including emergency and after‑hours support as needed

Required Experience & Skills:

• 4-5 years of hands‑on experience

• Experience supporting pressure sources, pressure transmitters, and related gas system instrumentation

• Experience supporting real‑time operational data used by control room and operations teams

• Strong troubleshooting skills related to:

• Automation and control equipment

• Field instrumentation

• Data and communication issues between field devices and monitoring systems

• Ability to work safely in field environments and travel across Maryland

Requirements:

• Must have completed a Technician Assessment or the ability to pass required assessment
• Valid driver's license required
