JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
The Gas Controller is responsible foroperating and monitoring Delta Utilities’ natural gas transmission and distribution systems using the OSI Gas SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. This role ensures system integrity, responds to gas emergencies, dispatches work to field personnel, and provides timely internal and external notifications. The position requires adherence to Control Room Management standards and regulatory compliance.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Monitor the gas SCADA system for alarms and make real-time adjustments to maintainappropriate system pressures
Dispatch field personnel and provide GIS-based asset location support for valve operations, isolation, and maintenance activities
Develop and prepare gas data reports and forms for internal and external use across Gas Operations and other departments
Supply required data for Control Room Management compliance audits
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external agencies, including law enforcement, emergency responders, and regulatory bodies
Maintain accurate records of operational activities and emergency responses
Support system integrity by monitoring transport imbalances and coordinating corrective actions with Gas Supply and Transportation teams
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical or associate degree preferred
Preferred: Technical or Associate degree in natural gas operations, engineering, or related field.
Minimum experience required of the position
Minimum 2–4 years in gas operations, dispatching, or control room environmentrequired
Preferred: 5+ years of experience in gas operations (service/measurement) or control room experiencepreferred
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities preferred of the position
Strong computer proficiency, including SCADA systems and Microsoft 365 suite
Ability to interpret system data and make independent decisions under pressure
Excellent verbal communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external agencies
Knowledge of gas distribution system operations, control room procedures, and GIS applications preferred
Must be able to work alone andbe self-motivated and self-directed
Must be able to integrate into the GDC environment and possess strong team building skills
Must be able to multi-task and constantly be able to rearrange priorities
Must be able to handle several situations at one time. Strong decision-making skills and experience—must have the ability to make independent judgments for accurate interpretation of readings and for distinguishing between minor and more serious problems to make proper decisions

Physical Requirements
Able to operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop.
Able to sit for extended periods of time.
Able to operate a copy machine, fax machine, calculator, telephone and other miscellaneous office equipment.
Able to exert up to 10 Lbs. of force occasionally, and /or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push or otherwise move objects.

24/7 operation requiring 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must comply with DOT and PHMSA drug and alcohol regulations, including pre-employment testing.
Ability to work in a high-stress environment and make critical decisions quickly.
In connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations, the company expects its employees to be available to work additional hours, in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties as deemed necessary to maintain uninterrupted supply to its customers.
