onsemi is seeking a Gas Systems Engineer at our Hopewell Junction, NY site. This position is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of semiconductor facility gas systems. This entry-level role focuses on engineering, monitoring, maintenance support, and continuous improvement of bulk and specialty gas distribution systems for wafer fabrication processes.
This position is a standard Monday - Friday role, with expectations to provide on-call support and occasional off-hours coverage for critical system needs, planned work, or facility emergencies.

- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 0-5 years of experience (internship or co-op experience in semiconductor, chemical, or industrial systems preferred)
- Basic understanding of fluid systems, piping, and industrial process equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-reliability manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Salary: onsemi is excited to share the base salary range for this position is $65,800 to $102,100 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.The final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or consideration of the internal equity of our current team members. - Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, reliability enhancements, and capacity expansion
- Develop and implement engineering solutions, including system upgrades and process modifications
- Drive cost reduction and energy efficiency initiatives
- Participate in troubleshooting complex, mechanical, and process-related system issues in bulk and specialty gas systems
- Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Support capital projects, including new installations, retrofits, and system upgrades
- Develop and review technical documentation such as P&IDs, specifications, and procedures
- Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Ensure all gas system operations comply with safety standards, codes, and internal procedures
- Work closely with manufacturing, facilities, and EHS teams to support fab operations
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for system maintenance and upgrades
- Provide engineering support for new tool installations and gas tie-ins
